Experiencing Great and Mighty Things

Speaker - Elder Ayodeji Adesina (Lay Pastor, BHSDAC, London)

(Message summarised by Sis. Ayobola Akwarandu)

Key Text: Jeremiah 33: 1 – 3 “1 While Jeremiah was still confined in the courtyard of the guard, the word of the LORD came to him a second time: 2 "This is what the LORD says, he who made the earth, the LORD who formed it and established it—the LORD is his name: 3 'Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.”

As you look at this passage, you will notice that the Scripture says that Jeremiah, a mighty man of God was shut up in the prison away from the society. Sometimes we wonder why bad things happen to good people. You may feel like Jeremiah and probably recount lots of tough times this year; however even while still in the prison, the Word of God came to Jeremiah. Friend, even if your situation makes you feel shut up, nothing can stop you from receiving from God. God knows your address, He even knows the side of the bed you sleep on. He can reach you wherever you are and no matter how bad the situation is. He is saying to you today, “call to me and I will answer you…”

God is aware of our situations. When Job began to pray for his friends, his own breakthrough came, start to pray for the brethren. God showed Jeremiah that He is not called God for nothing; His name is a strong Tower and the righteous run into it and is saved. God is saying He has a record you can check. His Name is a guarantee of His greatness! He’s got the greatest testimonials. Ask Joseph if he does not know what it means to be in prison for years. However, one day his name was remembered. Ask Daniel how it feels to be thrown into the lion’s den and how those lions met the Lion of the tribe of Judah. You may feel you are in a mess you can’t get out, don’t be weary, just take all your cares to God in prayer. God loves challenges. He has committed Himself to answering our prayers, the Bible says He is a Rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. He said the expectation of the righteous shall not be cut off. God is giving us an open invitation. In answer to your prayers, He’s promised that He will show you great and mighty things that you do not know of. This means that He will answer you better than He’s answered you in the past, He will beat your imaginations! Hallelujah!

Nothing in our imagination is equal to God. If you can think of it, God can do it! God can dry up the sea just for you. A lot of us today are feeding from crumbs that fall from the table because we have limited the Holy One of Israel. Our failure to have stems from our failure to ask, all other things being equal.

Friend, stop magnifying your mountain before God but magnify your God before your mountain. If you will pray, your sorrows will turn to joy. If you can pray, you will receive. A man is only as powerful as his prayers. Jesus said Men ought always to pray and not faint. It is the enemy that says don’t bother to pray. He who fails to pray becomes a prey. If we will pray we will be delivered. God loves making an impression, He is going to turn your situation around and show you great and mighty things that you’ve not experienced before.
